SubSounds 10-Year Celebration Concert

This October 18th they will be celebrating a musical milestone of 10 years with a reunion gig in The Civic, Tallaght. Past participants will give stellar performances, showcasing how their musical journey has progressed since leaving the programme.

Martin Moran, the Music Development Manager of Alternative Entertainments, began to develop the programme when he noticed a lack of facilities for musical education for the youth in the area, ‘young people didn’t have access to professional mentors or affordable spaces where they could rehearse or compose. I wanted to change this and give young musicians the opportunity to be educated and to improve as musicians. Alternative Entertainments had previously set up rock schools and workshops in the Tallaght area so I wanted to carry on that tradition. From this SubSounds was born’.

Megan McGarry is a student of the programme for the past 3 years, ‘For me SubSounds made me realise how much I actually love music and everything that comes with it. I’ve had so many amazing opportunities that would never have happened if not for the help of SubSounds. I came in knowing little or nothing about music. Over my three years in the course I’ve learned guitar, drums, bass and have surprised myself time and time again with how my songs and lyrics are constantly improving. I’ve made friends and memories for life. I am forever grateful for SubSounds’.

On October the 18th SubSounds will have a celebration in The Civic, Tallaght. The mentors will perform with past and present students. It will be a fantastic night of music, creativity and friendship.

Tickets are available to buy from the Civic Theatre Box Office for €7.
