Lara graduated from BIMM in 2021, completing modules such as Cultural Perspectives, Music Teaching, Professional Development and Ensemble Performance. Lara has been teaching vocals, ukulele and guitar with Des Carty Music School and Music Generation programmes such as 'Early Years', 'Ready Steady Play' and 'Hangout Sessions'. His areas of expertise are song writing, singing and bass playing. He works as a live/ studio session musician and has appeared on numerous albums and tours over the years with the likes of Mark Geary, Star Little Thing, Nina Hynes, Roesy and Autamata. With his television production company Southpaw Pictures he has produced/ directed music videos and television appearances for the likes of James Vincent McMorrow, Villagers, Warpaint & Gomez. He has co-produced 11 albums for the Sub Sounds Music Programme. A skilled bass player, guitarist,vocalist,pianist and drummer, Jamie brings real gigging insight to every lesson, performing live most weekends. He is also the founder of The Shakermakers, a successful tribute band known for energetic and authentic performances. Martin has been involved with Alternative Entertainments since the 80s. His first contact was as guitar student and attendee of The Tallaght Rock School. In the 90s he began working as guitar tutor with The Des Carty Music School. He then joined the festival support staff as administrator and eventually Music Programme Manager. He started The South Dublin Rock School with Elton Mullally in 2004.The project changed its name to SubSounds in 2009. She was a participant of Subsounds Tallaght from the year 2012 until 2016. Ciara completed her BA in Creative and Cultural Industries from TU Dublin in 2020, and is currently working on a collaborative country album with the working title “Inside Voice”. Ciara released her first two singles in 2021, “Loser in Love” and her second single “My Perfect Man” both of which received incredible feedback on a national scale. A student of the South Dublin Rock School and very first Sub Sounds group, he has been involved in the Irish music industry for over a decade touring extensively with acts including Saint Sister, Trinity Orchestra, Carron, and his own group Spies. Hugh is a guitarist, bassist and classically trained double bass player and has taught music with the Des Carty school of music for over 5 years. In the past he has worked for Festival Republic producing live gigs and festivals and also as a music journalist featuring regularly with The Thin Air magazine. In 2019, Hugh started his own independent record label Big Move Records with the goal of promoting new, important projects both abroad and in Ireland. After studying Commercial Modern Music, majoring in Song writing and Cultural Perspectives at BIMM Dublin, she has spent the last twelve months gigging across the country while recording and releasing three studio singles. 2019 captured performances across multiple Irish showcases from Electric Picnic to Dublin's renowned Ruby Sessions and January 2020 displayed her first headline show in Whelan's which was covered across Irish press from RTE 2FM, Hotpress and The Irish Times. Her third studio single is set for release on July 17th. He has performed and toured with many acts since the early 90s. As well as performing, Colin has composed music for film, television and theatre. One of which projects was the award winning Irish feature film ‘Eamon’ (2009) in which Colin composed the score with Irish artist Miriam Ingram. He has recorded the likes of Villagers, Sinead O’Connor, Brendan Benson and Warpaint and co-produces the annual Sub Sounds album. He started his career playing in musical theatre pit orchestras as a teenager and has spent the last 10 years performing in some of Ireland's and the UK's top venues and festivals. (Electric Picnic, RTE's Saturday Night Show and London's O2 Forum Kentish Town). Karl graduated from BIMM Dublin in 2015 and most recently from Griffith College where he studied Music Production for Video Games. Domhnaill is a guitar/keys player and vocalist in backing bands for singers such as Cat Dowling, Ciara Dalton and Daire Heffernan and is also the bass player in Dublin based punk band Slightly Dishevelled. Domhnaill also works as a freelance audio engineer and music producer having recorded and produced music by eilis, Fough and the JEMZ album released by SubSounds as well as his own single Are You Still Here which he released under the pseudonym Pi. Domhnaill has composed electronic/ambient music for projects such as the emergence young choreographer programme and for a short film series called Finding The Wild, by Tallaght Community Arts. Domhnaill finished his last year of Subsounds as a participant in 2019 and has been helping out with the programme as a mentor and audio engineer every year ever since. SubSounds LP is a group of participants aged 14-18 that meet every Wednesday from 6-9pm, and 11-4pm on midterm breaks, in Rua Red Arts Centre in Tallaght. During these sessions participants take part in workshops covering basic musicianship, ensemble playing, songwriting and performing. They write and arrange songs that are worked on in groups, adding band arrangements under the guidance of the tutors. The participants have the opportunity to try out and play new instruments, and perform them as part of a band. The SubSounds LP group work towards creating a collaborative album of their original songs that they write throughout the year. This album is recorded in the famous Studio 1 of Windmill Lane Recording Studio in Dublin City. The group then launch this album at a gig in a live music venue in Dublin. Our most recent album launch took place in The Sugar Club on Leeson Street, Dublin 2. WHAT IS SUBSOUNDS EP? The SubSounds EP course (formerly known as SubSounds Intro) is a song-writing and recording course that caters for individuals who are new to SubSounds, it is a smaller group with a maximum of 16 participants, that runs for 16 weeks from the beginning of November 2021. This group is similar to the SubSounds LP course in that participants take part in workshops covering songwriting, composition and performing. However this course is different in that it also focuses on teaching participants basic musicianship, band etiquette and other skills that helps prepare them to join the SubSounds LP group, and ultimately for their journey in the music industry. The SubSounds EP group work towards creating a collaborative EP of their original songs that they write throughout the term. This EP is recorded in Contact Studio in Rua Red by our mentors. The group then launch this EP at a gig alongside SubSounds School group in The Civic Theatre in Tallaght. journey as a singer/songwriter in 2017. Since then her music has received widespread global acclaim amassing over 8 million streams across all streaming platforms, and leading to a signing with revered independent label AWAL. Crean has spent the last 3 years touring the UK and Ireland playing in venues such as O2 Forum Kentish Town, festivals such as All Together Now, and TV performances with the likes of RTÉ with Other Voices. After spending a handful of years living and working abroad in the music industry, she now resides in Dublin as a full-time music teacher and songwriting mentor. Since 2004 it has worked with musicians from around South Dublin County, mentoring them in the composition, arrangement, performance and recording of original music. This festival is a partnership between SubSounds and Music Generation local Music Education Partnership's: South Dublin County, Kildare, Fingal, Meath, Dublin City, and Wicklow. The festival is youth led and youth centred, and will feature performances by participants of projects from these six counties. She have released a 6 track EP called Passion + Paper including a music video last May and has released 3 singles since. Sadhbh was listed as one of The Irish Times’ top 20 Artists to watch out for in 2024. She has opened for Saibh Skelly in the Academy, Niall McNamee in The Workman’s Cellar and Emma Langford in Snug Sessions. She recently played at The Ruby Sessions and I have sold out 2 headline gigs.
